“A Cup of Coffee,” written by Mario Corry and C.C. Corry, has been accepted to the Manhattan Repertory Theatre’s Spring One-Act Play Competition.

The play is a modern-day story about the fall of a Wall Street hedge fund manager of sub-prime mortgages. How someone can build a life of supposed success and lose it all in a flash.

Manipulation

Manipulation is an unadulterated glimpse into the life of a family torn by prescription medication. We watch our main character, FRANK, (Joe O’Dell) battle with his wife, ANGEL (Misty Easler) to live a life free of drugs and addiction. He then seeks help from his weary father, MICHAEL (Mario Corry) one final time for the sake of his child CHLOE (Nia Spaulding) and a chance for redemption.

In this ad, directed by Darren Aronofsky, an upset teenage boy approaches his parents’ house, knocking on the door, and shouting “I’m sorry, Dad!” In narration, the boy says he’s always been very close to his parents. Inside the house, his parents are panicked and distraught, and turn off the light. The boy kicks the door many times, begging to be let in, screaming that he’s going to kill them.
